New York Anyone?

We are stashed on a mountain top in a hotel in Virginia. Amazing sunset. We had a great time in Connecticut. We got to see one house that is 20 minutes from my sister in law. It's a rental, which is what we want at first. It was built in 1790! 4800 sq ft and a barn on 5 acres. We fell in love...I really fell in love with it and Mike would have too if the rent wasn't 1500.00 a month. I told him it was a steal, but well? I remain cautiously optimistic that he will find a position as a pysch supervisor. We are definitely looking and hope to be transplanted by Halloween!

The trip back south through Ct. and New York was pure hell. No way around it. We tried and the rain and fog and traffic were more than our patience could bare. There was so much rain we thought we were in the middle of a tropical storm. The rain was relentless and the fog started settling lower in the hills. We decided to get a hotel and took an exit that said lodging and food. LIE! We took the exit and there were no hotels with the next exit being 17 miles away. Then we were lost in the northern part of the city in pouring rain and an Atlas that didn't list the road numbers were seeing on signs. As a matter of a fact, the road numbers were completely wrong and missing altogether. We somehow made it to NJ, albeit very grumpy, found a hotel (that wasn't 200.00 a night) and after sneaking our 7 lb. shih tzu (Baxter) into the room, collapsed into our beds.
This morning it was raining, again! We headed straight for the area we ran from last night and crossed the G. Washington Bridge to get on 95S. OOPS! Mike didn't take the right lane and we crossed back into NYC and we had to pay the $8.00 toll do a U turn to do it again. I never want to see that bridge again.
So tomorrow it is to the parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway. A place we know and love and the kids can't wait to hike...
